Simple sequence of events:
Wife tossed me out;
Had a brief affair with a woman who publically abused me for being a "fat c***";
Moved in with my brother (former comp winner);
He got me focused again and started the weight loss process;
Found a doctor who saved my life, literally, reinforced my plan to weight train.
Then ego took over.
That's it.

Oh great thread Kirk.
A very dear friend has always been into body building and id hear him rave on about various things but other than that I didn't have much exposure to the lifting world.
I decided i was a diabetes risk and needed to lose some weight.
Oh friends had dobbed me into Finance first just to get the free bag so i ended up joining. I had no clue at all and no confidence. No way was i using the free weights or much else for that matter.
Got my free PT sessions and he was great. Helped me build my confidence to the point where i didnt care who was about. I learnt some stuff and stuck with him for a year til he quit.
Not after I started with the PT Ifound another forum (where i met Kirk) and learnt tons on there.
And not long after i first ventured into the weights area i realised how much i loved it and had finally found the 'exercise' that i enjoyed. Cause generally im as lazy as fuck when it comes to that.
I lost ten kilos (altho a couple have easter egged their way back on) and started liking the muscle building that i could see.
So im not a bodybuilder (as such) and im not into competing but here i am.

Quite simple for me really, I was once a fat **** for many years. Decided to drop the weight by going to the gym. I liked what bodybuilding training did to my body, the rest is history.

I used to be quite fit back when I was about 16-17, went as far as state in swimming a couple of times, played in under21's soccer when I was 17, played hockey for school, typical jock type high school student...
But then I turned 18, stopped playing sport, started drinking A LOT, ate a fair bit of fast food and basically piled on about 25-30Kg in about a year... Heaviest was about 100Kg...
I pretty much just got fed up with looking like a blob and not being active like i used to, so joined up a gym, dropped back down to about 73ish, then I started building back up, doing plenty of research and reading and basically became almost like a hobby to me...
Now it's just that ingrained into my everyday lifestyle I don't think i'd be the same person without it...

For me I started indoor rock climbing near my house at around 13 after about a year alot of friends and neighbours has said i had gotten bigger.
Soon after this the rock climbing centre had closed down so i had nothing to do. I watched the movie Airborn and wanted to start speed skating, so i went out and bought some awesome bauer skates and hit the local skating rink, i was determined to learn and i fell over many times, because the track went anti clockwise my left knee copped the full force of the falls often not being able to heal in time between injuries and easily breaking scabs open and bleeding.
Any way i fell in love with it and i got fast, i started learning ways to improve performance and starting doing things like cleaning my skate bearing with petrol and then lubing them with 2stroke/petrol mix.
This made me go alot faster i was keeping up with the really fast guys at this stage, i asked people what should i do to get faster and i was introduced to the gym, i would train atleast 3-4 times a week either at the school gym or mates gym or actual gym. Im now about 16 here at this point.
Ok so after some training i was very very fast i was keeping up with the guys that had speed skates and even beating some of them.
My father saw how good i was and bought me a pair of inline/ice-speed skates thast were custom made to suit my foot only.
It took me about 2 weeks to get the ankle strength up and i was off i raced against a guy at the time who was a NSW senior champ and i tied with him in a 10 lap all out race. 111metre olympic track.
During all this time i continued weights then eventually the rink closed down and now i just train with weights.
The end.

I started out in a swimming squad when i was about 10 and then during high school I would swim almost every morning before school.
I really wanted to be a swimmer and then I did really well in a few school cross countries and went to state champs then my mum helped me get into triathlon and I haven't looked back since.
Funnily enough swimming is now one of my weaker legs of the races and running is one of my strongest.

I've always been into bodybuilding since I was 16. I just got sidetracked for awhile. Only got back into it again properly a few years ago.

Pretty much the same for me!
Sick of being skinny, called skinny, and feeling insecure and powerless.
Always wanted to be bigger my whole life and will continue to my whole life i think but instead of wishing and getting no where, I decided if i wanted to be bigger i'd have to do something about it.

I have always been known as a fighter so it wasnt a worry to me that i was skinny in that sense, but i guess i was sick of being singled out cos i was skinny. As soon i put on a little size i never really had to fight lol.... or maybe i was just over compensating because i was skinny ahahaha

Yea i was also in this same situation i wasn't a fighter but was always in fights cause i was always singled out for me size as an easy fight so i learned to even the odds with weapons and rage aka grab the closest thing near you and smash it of as many peoples head as possible.
This was the main reason i felt this way cause i had to resort to this kinda shit and it doesn't always work.

Was sick of always getting dropped on my ass playing footy, started weight training and eventually gave up footy when I was 17-18 but kept up the weight training because it gave me more satisfaction.
